Matt started fishing at a young age chasing bluegill and bass in local ponds prior to catching his first walleye at Mosquito Lake.  Ever since that first walleye he has been "hooked" on trying to learn and develop new ways to catch big eyes.  Growing up in close relationship to Lake Erie and getting the opportunity to fish the deep depths of the central basin with his Stepfather each summer fed his hunger to catch fish and learn new techniques.

After high school, while attending college, he had the opportunity to hone his angling skills while first mating for charter boat captains on the big lake while also selling tackle.  These opportunities helped fuel his desire to be involved with the fishing industry.

In the mid 90's he moved to Bucyrus, Ohio to pursue a career in agriculture with Hord Livestock Co., which is where he is still employed.  Matt and Robin enjoy spending time with their daughter, Ashley, doing a variety of activities.  The family enjoys hunting, watching NASCAR, college football and anything else that allows them to spend time together.

In addition to family and fishing Matt also is the tournament director for the Western Basin Sportfishing Association and runs several tournaments per year on Lake Erie.  He is also a member of a variety of fishing organizations and enjoys getting people, and especially kids, started in fishing and to teach them about the sport that he enjoys so much.
